BAT001: Business Analyst & Taxonomist

The Business Analyst and Taxonomist heads tasks related to classification, content organization and representation, metadata design, processes, and other business process needs. Responsibilities include:

• Taxonomy and Ontology development
• XML and OWL schema development
• Data Dictionary development
• Content or Entity extraction
• Commercial search engines, technologies, and techniques
• Metadata and metadata creation
• Indexing schemes
• Automated tools to support schema integration and analysis
• Taxonomy and ontology workbenches and analysis tools
• Related current and emerging representation and query standards

Requirements include a college degree in library science, computer science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred), and at least 5 years of real experience with Information Science in a business environment. You must have a strong understanding of taxonomies, thesauri, ontologies, metadata, and the adaptation of controlled vocabularies to meet business needs. Very strong communication skills and excellent analytical skills are firm requirements, as is a strong business acumen and the ability to build consensus quickly among diverse stakeholders in an organization. Project management or consulting experience is a plus. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a highly distributed team of professionals.
